The Belarusian Foreign Minister made this statement at a meeting with Vijitha Herath, Sri Lanka's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism. The Belarusian Foreign Minister assured his counterpart of his readiness to support Sri Lanka's socioeconomic development, both by increasing fertilizer and equipment supplies and through personnel training. Maxim Ryzhenkov also noted tourism, a key area of cooperation, which received a significant boost with the opening of a direct flight. The parties agreed to intensify bilateral political contacts and prepare for a meeting of the joint Belarusian-Sri Lankan Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation by the end of the year.
