A large-scale project to supply 4.000 units of agricultural equipment, including 1.000 tractors, to Mozambique is one of many agreements reached during the Belarusian Foreign Minister's visit to the African republic. As Maxim Ryzhenkov noted, the country with a population of nearly 40 bln and access to the Indian Ocean is extremely interested in Belarusian technology. Mozambique also requires support in security matters and the fight against various forms of organized crime. Agricultural mechanization, food security and industrial cooperation were also discussed. Joint projects in the mining sector were also a focus. But the key outcome of the visit was political: the President of Mozambique gratefully accepted Aleksandr Lukashenko's invitation to pay an official visit to Belarus. The parties are expected to draft approximately a dozen bilateral agreements and hold the first meeting of the joint commission on trade and economic cooperation.
