The National Bank is preparing for the introduction of the digital Belarusian ruble from 1 July
23.04.2026
At the first stage, citizens will not be involved in the process. The National Bank sees great practical applicability of the digital ruble for legal entities, especially in terms of controlling the expenditure of funds using smart contracts. Cases of cross-border payments using the digital Belarusian ruble system are already being tested. This is more of an alternative to other existing systems. Four Belarusian banks will participate in the pilot operation of the digital ruble. The widespread use of the digital ruble is planned from 2027.
