The Ministry of Agriculture and Food has assessed the country's needs for potatoes

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, Belarus’s annual demand for potatoes is 78.000 – 90.000 tons per year. According to statistics, in 2024, one Belarusian ate an average of 56 kilograms of the root crop. Given the growing demand for potatoes, the country has increased its planting area by 3 thousand hectares. This year, Belarusian farmers planted 21 thousand hectares of potatoes. Taking into account farmers, it is planned to receive about 1 million tons of the harvest. This will fully meet the needs of the domestic market and expand the geography of exports.
