The bill on the digital Belarusian ruble has passed the first reading
Deputies of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus have reviewed the draft law on the digital ruble in the first reading. This is the third form of money in addition to the existing cash (i.e. banknotes and coins) and non-cash, which are on cards and bank accounts. The issuer of the Belarusian digital ruble will be exclusively the National Bank. And only the regulator will open digital wallets, too. The security of the new form of money will be ensured at a high level. The introduction of the digital ruble entails the organization of special payment systems. The important principle of "One customer — one account" will apply. No interest will be charged, so this is more likely not a means of saving, but primarily a convenient payment method. New opportunities will open up for businesses, citizens, and, of course, for the state.
