The basis of contacts between Belarus and Iran is the economy
In 2024, the mutual trade turnover between Belarus and Iran increased by a quarter. According to the results of the first quarter of 2025, the dynamics is even higher: already +42%. Over the years of diplomatic relations, about 45 documents have also been signed between the two countries. There are about ten more in the works today. They relate to transport, healthcare, forestry, investments and other areas. The economic potential is undoubtedly broader if viewed through the political prism of new realities. Iran's membership in the SCO and BRICS, and its observer status in the EAEU are growth points that should be exploited. The turning point and starting point in the development of bilateral relations between the two countries was the visit of Aleksandr Lukashenko to Tehran in March 2023. As a result of the negotiations, a roadmap for comprehensive cooperation until 2026 was signed.
