Rescuers preparing for epiphany bathing

Rescuers are preparing for epiphany bathing. Orthodox Christians celebrate the Baptism of the Lord on January 19. The main tradition of this holiday is winter swimming. 90 epiphany baths were prepared to perform the ceremony. It is expected that about 160,000 people will take part in it. Almost 500 rescuers and doctors will oversee the bathing. Doctors recommend preparing for winter swimming in advance. Diving into ice holes is contraindicated for people with acute chronic diseases. It is also not recommended for children and elderly people.
