Order of Great Patriotic War, 2nd degree, returns home decades later

The award of our fellow countryman, veteran Ivan Aleshkevich, was handed over to his daughter Galina Borodko from Soligorsk. The order was accidentally found in the desert of Israel during an army exercise. After a long search, the identity of the owner was established and the award returned to the family. The awardee was identified with the help of the order's ID number. Teams from Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and even Mexico took part in the search for the veteran from Belarus. Important work has been done by the Association of Russian-speaking women in Israel.
