A requiem-meeting dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the liberation of death camp prisoners was held in Ozarichi. Where the memorial complex is today, in 1944 there was a death factory. Over 10 days, over 20 thousand civilians died in a freezing swampy area without water, food or fire. The German command intended to use typhus as a bacteriological weapon against the advancing Soviet troops. The prisoners became human shields of the punitive forces and innocent victims of monstrous torture. The bells of memory ring 80 years after the liberation of the survivors. The memorial complex in Ozarichi is a symbol of the defiance of the Belarusian people, an eternal reminder of how important it is to maintain peace on earth. Participants in the requiem-meeting honored the memory of the innocent victims of Nazism with a minute of silence, laid wreaths and flowers at the memorial sign for military doctors and the symbolic burial of prisoners.
