Gomel marks 76th anniversary of liberation from Nazi invaders

Gomel marks the 76th anniversary of the liberation fr om Nazi invaders today. On November 26, 1943 the city became the first liberated regional center of Belarus. More than 20 thousand Red Army soldiers sacrificed their lives for the freedom of Gomel. Partisan formations helped bring closer the victory. On the eve of the memorable date, the city joined the large-scale action "To the Glory of a Common Victory". Soil from all Gomel military graves in special capsules will be delivered to Minsk, wh ere it will be placed in the crypt of the Temple Monument in honor of All Saints. Today, at the Eternal Flame and the Mass grave of Soviet soldiers and underground workers in Gomel, the memory of the liberators will be honored.
