Border crossing fee to be introduced on June 1

The local tax for crossing the state border by vehicles will be introduced in the Gomel and Grodno regions from June 1. It aims to fight the coronavirus. For vehicles up to 5 tons, the fee is set at one base unit. It is paid by the driver in Belarusian rubles before crossing or when crossing the border at checkpoints. In other cases, the fee is not paid. The following are exempted from the payment of tax having necessary documents: drivers traveling to the funeral of family members and close relatives, as well as those accompanying the deceased for burial; participants of the Great Patriotic War; disabled people of groups I and II and their attendants; participants in the liquidation of the consequences of the disaster at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant; citizens of Belarus leaving for treatment in sanatoriums.
