Belarus has risen by three positions in the UNDP global HDI ranking and now occupies the 50th position among 189 countries. For a second consecutive year our country has been included in the group of nations with high HDI. The ranking is based on three criteria: life expectancy, literacy rate and mean years of schooling, as well as living standards based on gross national income per capita. Additionally, in Belarus the human development index among women is higher than in Europe and Asia. In general, the development of human potential in our country is characterized by steady growth.
