Belarusian scientists have created more than 600 new varieties of agricultural crops. Thus, the productivity of some cereals is up to 120 c/ha. Rapeseed and leguminous crops can yield 50-60 c/ha. Among potato varieties stand out — "Pershatsvet" and "Julia". The first variety is well stored in winter, and the second is ideal for the production of chips. The Institute of fruit growing of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus has one of the largest collections of fruit, berry, nut crops and grapes in Eastern Europe. As of today, it amounts to more than 5.5 thousand specimens.
