Belarusian scientists have mastered their own technology for producing graphene

Academics at the Scientific and Practical Centre for Materials Science of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus have also developed their own method for producing graphene. The process relies on graphite, a mineral familiar to everyone as pencil lead. It is exfoliated into atomic layers using reagents that penetrate the carbon layers and literally push them apart. Graphene boasts exceptional strength as well as high electrical and thermal conductivity, opening up new possibilities for industry, the energy sector, electronics and other fields. The production method has been successfully tested in the laboratory, and Belarusian specialists are now working on scaling up the technology.
