Belarus will introduce a mechanism to protect the economy in the sphere of government procurement in the course of the country’s accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO). Belarus became an observer in the WTO Committee on Government Procurement (GPA Committee) in June and now can participate in discussions of the international organization, and before joining the WTO Belarus can evaluate all the advantages for companies that can expand the geography of sales, as well as measures to protect its home market. The seminar in Minsk features experts from the WTO and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, as well as representatives of Belarus’ government agencies and business. The event will present the updated Law on Public Procurement, the main principle of which is transparency of procedures and reduction of intermediaries.
