The Paris climate agreement aimed at keeping global temperature growth within two degrees Celsius by the end of the century has entered into force today. The document has been approved by 72 countries, including the USA and China accounting for more than one third of global greenhouse gas emissions. Belarus is one of the first countries to present the UN Secretary-General with the instruments of accession to the Paris agreement. Belarus has made a commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 by 28% compared to 1990. Belarus also intends to increase the area of forests and to restore bogs. All this will contribute to the development of the so-called "green economy".
