Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko held a session to discuss the development prospects of Grodno Azot, the biggest Belarusian producer of fertilizers. The government has submitted the plan of modernization of Grodno Azot. It envisages the renovation of existing production facilities and the transition to power-efficient and hi-tech production. Alexander Lukashenko emphasized that it is essential to thoroughly analyze all aspects and make a balanced decision with long-term goals. The president underlined that there should be no loss-making and subsidized projects in the country. According to the head of state, the global demand for nitrogen fertilizers will be on the rise: the world population is increasing, existing farms will have to grow more products. At present, Grodno Azot supplies fertilizers to more than 30 countries. Last year, the profit grew by 20% and amounted to BYN113 million.
