The Ministry of Agriculture and Food expects that the harvest of crops this year will be better than last year’s. The forecast is based both on the calculations of scientists and on the analysis of the real situation in the fields. This year the harvesting has started later than usual due to the weather conditions. Nevertheless, the forecast is optimistic. The farmers expect to crop more than 8 million tons of cereals and legumes, almost 5 million tons of beets, more than a million ton of potatoes. The task has been set to procure 9.3 million tons of forage units of grass fodder. Harvesting of winter barley is coming to an end in the southern regions; harvesting of rapeseed has begun in the Minsk region. In total, 8.5 thousand combine harvesters and more than 2 thousand grain drying complexes will be involved in the harvesting of grain in the country.
