The economic results of the year in the CIS can be called successful. Such an assessment was given by President Alexander Lukashenko at the informal Commonwealth Summit held in Novo-Ogaryovo near Moscow. Since the beginning of this year, trade turnover between the member states has grown by a quarter and amounted to almost 117 billion dollars. The CIS trade with third countries increased by 24 percent. The head of the Belarusian state also voiced a number of topical issues of both regional and global agenda. Alexander Lukashenko expressed solidarity with Russia's position on Syria and Jerusalem. In 2018, the chairmanship in the CIS passes from Russia to Tajikistan.
