The European Union and one of UN agencies will finance the removal of pesticides from Belarus, 200,000 euros to be allocated for project implementation. 6 tons of waste, primarily high-mercury pesticides, will have been removed from the Grodno region and disposed of in France by the end of August, as announced by Head of the EU Delegation to Belarus Andrea Victorin.A Soviet-time warehouse with so-called obsolete pesticides, i.e. substances dangerous to humans, can still be found in the village of Mizgiri. The waste is not harmful yet, but has to be disposed of as early as possible. The project to eliminate obsolete pesticides in the village of Mizgiri was launched two years ago. So far, 258 tons have been eliminated.
