BelAZ working on dump truck powered by electric batteries

The BelAZ Belarusian automobile plant is working on a 90-ton electric-powered dump truck. The project is being implemented together with partners from South Korea. Another innovative product is a hybrid between trolleybuses and dump trucks. These are so-called diesel trolley cars. Their engines need fuel to work, but most of the energy is supplied in the form of  electricity. The electric dump truck is to be unveiled already this summer. As calculated by experts, over 10 years of operation such a truck can provide an equivalent of about three million dollars in fuel economy. This is half the cost of the vehicle itself.
