The Belarusian government is considering subsidizing options for the sake of encouraging households and companies to use more electricity. The decision was made following a government conference held by the head of state. One of the proposals suggests giving preferential rates on electricity to companies, which proprietary generators are getting worn out, in order to encourage them to switch to the national power grid, especially after the NPP commissioning. Another option is encouraging households to heat water at night at cheaper rates. Instead of burning natural gas they could switch to electricity.
