Belarus plans to reduce natural gas consumption volumes due to use of alternative energy sources

Minskis the leader among Belarusian cities in terms of the transition to alternative energy sources.Today marks International Energy Saving Day. According to the Energy Ministry,Belarusplans to reduce natural gas consumption volumes next year. The transition to alternative energy sources will allow saving over a billion cubic metres of gas.
A significant progress in using alternative energy sources has been observed inMinsk. The latest facilities are a mini-hydropower plant at the Chizhovsky reservoir and a woodchip-fueled boiler station in thevillageofSosny, providing the city with both thermal and electrical energy.
