Opening markets, bringing down barriers and excessive government regulation where it is economically feasible are the main goals of the competition development program, which is currently being drafted in Belarus. This was announced by Prime Minister Sergei Rumas at an international conference on the development of industry markets. The forum brought together representatives of antitrust authorities from 15 countries. The focus is on pharmaceutics, trade and high technologies, legislation. Belarus has adopted legal acts that promote business liberalization, provide special conditions for rural businesses, and help counteract monopolistic trends.
