Banks should take into account interests of national economy

The activities of banks should be effective and take into account the interests of the national economy as much as possible. This was stated by the President of Belarus as he heard out a report on certain issues in the functioning of credit and financial organizations. The key topic of the discussion was the management effectiveness in banking structures. The level of remuneration of bankers was also discussed. "Bonuses" for top managers should not be "exuberant". The trend towards their revision and a more flexible approach is a pan-European practice. As a result of the report, the government and the National Bank were instructed to develop a clear system of remuneration for bank managers. The President stressed that it should be fair.
