The forecast of the social and economic development of Belarus for the next year should be realistic, but exceptionally ambitious. President Alexander Lukashenko heard a report by the Government, the National Bank, regional and municipal authorities. After 2016, which was not the most successful year with the economy falling by 6%, the country managed to cope with the situation and secure growth, including an increase in the GDP. Export volumes and forex reserves are also on the rise. The 2018 budget is supposed to remain socially oriented. This envisages increased spending on education, health care and support for large families. The President wanted the final draft budget to be submitted by December 20.
