An exhibition timed to the 100th anniversary of artist Israil Basov opens at the National Art Museum of Belarus today. The artist had to lead a reclusive way of life, as he had no chance of sharing his progressive works with the general public. Nevertheless, he did not stop painting. And he created his own unique style. The exhibition demonstrates more than a hundred pieces, both paintings and drawings. The Basov's complete artistic heritage includes about a thousand works. The current retrospectives brings together pieces from the collections of a number of Belarusian museums and the state archive.
