Yuri Ambrazevich, Belarus’ Permanent Representative to the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva, has been unanimously elected Chairperson of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe. “It is for the first time that the Belarusian representative has been elected head of the main executive body of the UN international economic organization,” the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said. Earlier, Belarus’ Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei visited the 68th session of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe in Geneva and said that it is necessary to strengthen economic integration and intensify political contacts in pan-European space.
