Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit being held in Bishkek
The summit of the Eurasian Eight is being held in Bishkek. The meeting of the Council of the Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is attended by the leaders of the participating countries and observers. Belarus received this status four years ago. The focus is on the state and prospects of deepening cooperation in areas such as security, countering terrorism and drug trafficking, economic development, industry, cooperation in the humanitarian sphere. The extended meeting will discuss current issues of global security and regional stability. The speech of the President of Belarus is expected at this meeting. Alexander Lukashenko will mark the country's position on topical international issues and the further development of the integration association. Bilateral meetings of leaders of countries are also planned on the sidelines of the summit.
