Sergei Lebedev: Presidential elections in Belarus comply with democratic principles

The winner is Alexander Lukashenko with 83.49% of the votes, as announced by CEC Chairwoman Lidia Yermoshina at today"s press conference. The final CEC meeting will be held on 16 October.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated Alexander Lukashenko on his convincing victory, pointing out that it is an indicator of a high political authority and credibility on the part of the population, as well as the active support of the current policy aimed at the country"s further socio-economic development.
OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier, speaking at today"s enlarged meeting of the CSTO Permanent Council dedicated to ensuring security in Eurasia, held in Moscow, has congratulated the Belarusian side with the successful presidential elections.
Belarus" election campaign has been monitored by over 37,000 national and 900 international observers.
As stated by head of the CIS observation mission Sergei Lebedev at today"s final press conference, the presidential elections in Belarus comply with democratic standards.
According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry Ambassador heading China"s observer mission, the elections in Belarus are legitimate, democratic and transparent.
