Russia's parliament ratifies the treaty with Belarus on security guarantees

Belarusian deputies have ratified the treaty with Russia on security guarantees within the framework of the Union State. The Russian parliament has also completed the procedure today. The relevant bill was adopted in the Federation Council. The treaty was signed in Minsk on 6 December 2024 by the Presidents of Belarus and Russia on the margins of the meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State. The document is aimed at increasing joint efforts to effectively respond to modern challenges and threats in order to strengthen the security of the parties within the framework of the common defence zone of the Union State.
