President of Belarus approves September 11 as parliamentary elections date

President Alexander Lukashenko approved September 11 as the date for elections to the lower chamber of the Parliament. Improvements to the electoral process were discussed in the Palace of Independence at a meeting with the participation of the Head of State. The campaign itself will begin three days before the deadline, namely on June 7. And the next day, the Central Election Commission will approve a plan of organizational measures, the budget and the election constituency boundaries. The President stressed that the parliamentary elections should be held in a democratic and peaceful atmosphere. Voting will take place in one round. Winners are to be determined by relative majority. Descriptions of the constituencies have already been agreed with CEC.
