Next stage of election campaign starts in Belarus

The next stage of the election campaign has started in Belarus.The Central Election Commission has completed the registration of initiative groups of citizens to nominate candidates to the post of the President of Belarus. Thus, 15 initiative groups will collect signatures in support of the nomination of their candidates. The signature collection will last through 19 June inclusively. Due to the current unfavorable epidemiological situation, signature collectors will wear face masks and gloves. At least 100,000 signatures are required for the candidate to get the right to run for the presidency. The House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus scheduled the presidential election for 9 August, 2020.
