Ministry of Foreign Affairs Belarus lodges protest with Lithuanian Chargé d'Affaires over border breach by drone
The incident occurred on 17 May: Ukraine’s Chaika unmanned aerial vehicle was detected near the village of Stanislavtsy in Dokshitsy District, Vitebsk Oblast. Originally the drone been heading toward Russian territory to strike targets there. Lithuania took no action to prevent the combat drone from entering Belarusian territory, including timely notification of the Belarusian Armed Forces, unlike the measures that Belarus takes in similar situations. These actions are constituted a direct threat to Belarus' security and are a gross violation of international legal norms. Belarus demands that Lithuania conduct an investigation into this incident, promptly provide detailed information about the circumstances of the incident and take comprehensive measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
