MFA: No changes in Belarus’ migration policy in wake of UN Global Compact
13.12.2018
Belarus’ migration policy will not change after the UN Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration is approved, the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said. The work on the document started in April 2017. Belarus supported the compact because it welcomes the efforts of the international community to elaborate a joint action on current issues on the international agenda. The document is, in fact, a political declaration of intent and does not create new obligations for UN members. At the same time it is aimed at improving international regulation of migration processes.
