Lithuania and EU Chargés d'Affaires summoned to Belarusian Foreign Ministry
The Belarusian Foreign Ministry called on Warsaw to restore border contacts in order to avoid tragedies on the border. The Foreign Ministry commented on the note received from Poland regarding the death of a Polish border guard from a fatal wound at the hands of one of the migrants who tried to cross the Belarusian-Polish border. Minsk assured that they would consider the note taking into account all the circumstances, and also expressed sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased. Lithuania and EU Chargés d'Affaires to Belarus have also been summoned to the Foreign Ministry. The reason was the serious concern of Minsk in connection with the actions of Lithuanian customs officials to confiscate goods for personal use from citizens of Belarus and Lithuania, as well as third countries, when entering the Republic of Lithuania after the next sanctions restrictions came into force on June 3.
