L. Belskaya: Unilateral sanctions violate the principle of fairness
05.02.2026
Unilateral restrictive measures violate the principle of fairness which should be at the core of the transformation of global trade and economy. This was stated by Larysa Belskaya, Permanent Representative of Belarus to the United Nations Office in Geneva, at the 78th session of the UNCTAD Trade and Development Council. The side effects of economic, financial and trade restrictions disrupt regional and global supply chains, including energy, agricultural products, food and medical supplies. As a result sanctions extend beyond the countries they are targeted at. The growing fragmentation of the global economy is a natural consequence of the reckless sanctions policies of a number of Western countries.
