Kazan hosts the BRICS summit

Kazan is hosting the BRICS summit. It will last three days and will be attended by leaders of 24 countries, including Russia's closest neighbours, as well as partners in the Eurasian Economic Union and the Commonwealth of Independent States. Russia has held the BRICS chairmanship since 1 January. The motto: "Strengthening multilateralism for equitable global development and security" will be the main theme of all the meetings. The agenda includes key issues of world politics and economy, as well as further expansion of BRICS. Since the beginning of the year, five countries have become full members of the organisation: Egypt, Iran, UAE, Saudi Arabia and Ethiopia.
