International humanitarian cooperation, including the Chernobyl issue, should be outside of politics
24.04.2026
This was stated by Igor Sekreta, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, at the conference "40 years after Chernobyl: Results." The diplomat emphasized that politicization blocks the resolution of issues, limits assistance, and destroys trust. To prevent this, new rules of international communication are needed that exclude politics from humanitarian aspects. According to the Deputy Minister, Belarus is promoting the Eurasian Charter on Multipolarity and Diversity in the 21st Century, which will reinforce respect for sovereignty and exclude political pressure. The adoption of the Charter will create a legal basis for the professional resolution of humanitarian issues, including the Chernobyl issue, without political speculation.
