CIS and EAEU summits in Sochi

Sochi hosted the summits of the CIS and Supreme Eurasian Economic Council. Belarus President attended the forums. According to Alexander Lukashenko, statements saying that the Commonwealth of Independent States is needed should be backed by concrete actions, primarily in the economic sphere. And the efficiency of some bodies, in particular, the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly should be improved. The CIS Heads of State adopted 18 documents. Many of them concern security. The session of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council resulted in signing of 16 documents. The Presidents approved the next year’s budget of the Eurasian Economic Union, and signed a statement on the implementation of domestic procedures so that the new Customs Code could come into force on 1 January 2018.
