Central Election Commission accredits over 18,000 national observers

Preparations for the elections to Belarus" National Assembly will be discussed today at the Central Election Commission, the main topics being the registration of candidates for the Council of the Republic. The deadline for submitting documents is due to expire tomorrow. The results of the elections are to be announced no later than 30 September. The agenda also includes complaint consideration and preparations for the parliamentary elections.To date, the Central Election Commission has accredited over 18,000 national observers. Non-governmental organisations have been the most active - the Belarusian Republican Youth Union alone has nominated over 4,000 people. Also, a lot of observers have been nominated by political parties.The parliamentary elections are scheduled for 11 September.
