Belarus parliament sets presidential election for 9 August 2020

The Belarusian parliament have set the country’s presidential election for 9 August 2020. The collection of signatures to nominate candidates for the post of the President of Belarus will start on 21 May. The deadline for the submission of applications from potential presidential candidates to resister their initiative groups is 15 May. This election campaign will be held in a very unique environment due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. For example, signature collectors will be obliged to follow the recommendations of the Healthcare Ministry. All of them will be provided with personal protective equipment.
