Belarus MFA comments on appointment of M. Babich as Russia’s ambassador to Belarus and special presidential envoy

Russian President has appointed Mikhail Babich Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Belarus. Before his new appointment Mikhail Babich served as Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Volga Federal District. In his other decree, the Russian president also appointed Mikhail Babich special presidential envoy for promoting trade and economic cooperation with Belarus. Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs hopes that due to the status of a special presidential envoy the new Russian ambassador to Belarus will be able to address trade and economic issues between the countries faster and more efficiently. The ministry thanked outgoing Ambassador of Russia Alexander Surikov for many years of devoted work.
