Here are key quotes from the statement of Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Sekreta at the Universal Periodic Review in Geneva:
️⃣ “Belarus approaches the 4th Universal Periodic Review with full responsibility. We see it not as a formality but as a genuine platform for equal dialogue, exchange of experience, and cooperation in the field of human rights.”
️⃣ “Belarus is a socially oriented state where the person — their interests and needs — is at the center. The human being is the goal and meaning of all state policy.”
️⃣ “Our country faithfully fulfills its obligations under international human rights treaties and maintains a timely reporting record. Belarus is open to dialogue with all UN bodies.”
️⃣ “The constitutional reform marked a milestone in political modernization. The All-Belarusian People’s Assembly became the highest representative body of people’s power, giving citizens a direct mechanism to influence strategic decisions.”
️⃣ “The Constitution now provides additional guarantees for the most vulnerable — the elderly, persons with disabilities, children, and orphans. Belarus strives to ensure that no one is left without protection or care.”
️⃣ “The social protection system remains a hallmark of Belarus. The state consistently ensures a stable level of social security for the population.”
️⃣ “Every citizen, regardless of income or social status, has the right to receive any kind of medical assistance free of charge — including advanced, high-tech treatment. Few countries in Europe can claim the same.”
️⃣ “Belarus ranks among countries with very high human development and one of the lowest maternal and infant mortality rates in the world. We are among the top 25 best countries for motherhood.”
️⃣ “Unilateral coercive measures imposed by some Western states violate the economic and social rights of ordinary people and undermine global stability. Sanctions hurt citizens, not governments.”
