The forthcoming presidential elections in Belarus must be well organised and conducted in a very democratic and peaceful manner, as stated by Alexander Lukashenko at a meeting on the current socio-economic and political situation in the country. The President has demanded maximum mobilisation from everyone responsible for organising and conducting the election campaign and urged to provide a high level of public safety.The current election campaign is being held against a difficult economic background. However, according to Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov, a positive dynamics has been observed. Alexander Lukashenko stressed that measures on ensuring economic stability should not have a negative impact on citizens.
