Trade unions helping farmers at harvest
The harvesting campaign is in full swing in Belarus. Over 700 thousand tons of grain have already been threshed. Over 200 thousand hectares of early grain and leguminous crops were harvested. This is more than 10% of the total plan. The main factor for a successful harvest is comfortable and safe working conditions. Thus, every year the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus provides assistance to agricultural workers. This includes providing hot meals, mineral water, first aid kits, personal protective equipment and protective clothing. During the harvest, a Republican headquarters works whithin the FTU, uniting trade unions of all sectors. This year, a new practice has been introduced. Now during lunch, a medical worker comes to the fields to promptly examine patients. Until the end of the harvesting campaign, the FTU operates a hotline on the safety and working conditions of harvest participants.
