The volume of electricity consumption in Belarus in 2023 exceeded 41 billion kWh
This is the maximum for the entire recent history of the country. First of all, the real sector of the economy, electric transportation, and the demand for electricity among the population increased. Two power units of the Belarusian NPP provide about 40% of the country's demand for electricity. This makes Belarus one of the world leaders in terms of the share of nuclear generation in the total energy balance of the country. Today we are already talking about the need to build a second plant or a third power unit. This could make it possible to meet the growing domestic demand for electricity. The consumption growth is forecasted to reach 47 billion kWh by 2030. There is also an environmental effect. Due to the operation of BelNPP, greenhouse gas emissions have been reduced by more than 15 million tonnes.
