President signs decree "On Development of Rural and Ecotourism"
The President of Belarus has signed a decree "On Development of Rural and Ecotourism". The document aims at improving the sector and enhancing the quality of services. It also rules out the possibility to run hotel or restaurant business under the guise of ecotourism facilities; it protects the rights of citizens who live nearby. Requirements for the facilities have been clarified: the number of living rooms must not exceed ten and the types of services must not be less than two. Restrictions have been imposed on presentations, anniversaries, banquets and other events in the immediate vicinity of neighbouring residential buildings. It is also established that a permit to operate must be obtained from the district executive committees. Existing rural and ecotourism facilities must obtain such a permit by 1 July 2023.
