Farmers actively sowing spring crops
Given the favorable weather conditions, the "spring sowing race" is on schedule. More than 1 million hectares have been cultivated in Belarus. The main focus is on corn. Niasvizh district is also intensively engaged with the crop. At the "Sveklovichnaya" experimental farm, for example, up to 80 hectares of land are cultivated per day. The farm-machine operators have up-to-date equipment at their disposal. Local farmers are also working on potato: about 2.5 thousand hectares have already been sown with this crop. The sowing of sugar beet is also being completed: about 10% of the area remains to be attended to. The same goes for annual grasses, flax, vegetables. Farmers are getting ready for fodder harvesting, too. Working day and night to finish sowing by May 9. This is the task set by the President before the farmers. The main goal is to ensure food security.
