A. Lukashenko approves draft treaty on Union State’s common electricity market
President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko has approved the draft treaty on the formation of the common electricity market of the Union State. The document will serve as a basis for negotiations with Russia on the development of the Union State. This international treaty establishes the legal framework for the formation, functioning and development of the common electricity market, regulates relations related to the purchase and sale of electricity between the participants of this market. The treaty also defines the composition of the subjects of the united market, their rights and obligations. This is a crucial step in order to strengthen the energy security of our country, deepen the integration of Belarus and Russia, and achieve economic sovereignty of the Union State, as this measure will protect electricity consumers in Belarus from any external influences.
